Just in time: Marks and Spencer clock fixed

And now the Marks and Spencer clock in Montague Street, which was broken for months, has been restored to its former glory.
The clock stopped working in October, and at one point it was almost taken down.

Hide AdBut the company decided to repair it instead and hired Smith of Derby, which originally installed the clock when the shop opened in the thirties, to fix it.
According to Graham Lelliott, store services adviser for Marks and Spencer, the delay in repairs was because Smith of Derby was waiting for a permit to carry out the work to be approved by the council. He said: “It’s nice that they decided to keep it – it’s part of the local heritage.”
