Labour selects candidate to face Tim Loughton at next general election
Lavinia O’Connor, who represents Southlands at Adur District Council, was selected by the members of the local Constituency Labour Party (CLP) at the weekend.
Conservative Tim Loughton has represented the constituency since 1997.

Hide AdLabour candidate Sophie Cook reduced his majority from almost 15,000 votes to nearer 5,000 at last year’s general election.
However Mr Loughton’s share of the vote remained similar compared to 2015.
Reacting to her selection as a prospective parliamentary candidate on Twitter, Ms O’Connor, who is chair of the CLP, said: “On this Socialist Sunday I want to thank all those who supported and selected me to be our candidate for East Worthing and Shoreham.
“It was a well-run contest and I was privileged to be alongside such wonderful, committed women candidates. People desperately want change.
