Learn to grow your own food at Easter event
FIELD at Preston Barracks is hosting the community and family-friendly even, encouraging local people to grow their own food with the resources they have available, whether it be an urban window box or extensive garden.
Edible plant specialists Old Tree will be on hand to demonstrate compost making, seed planting, salad growing and willow weaving. There will also be plants for sale and seeds to swap.

Hide AdTom from Old Tree said: “We plan to celebrate Easter with a family-fun event that truly embraces the joys of spring and provides local people with the new skills and encouragement to try something new.
“We hope people of all ages will be tempted to join in the fun and take home a seed or sprouting plant that with a little TLC could eventually end up on their plate.”
Old Tree’s Brewhouse Café will be offering food and drink and for those that are inspired by the growing workshops, What You Sow will be selling gardening goodies, and visitors can even try their hand at a pop-up pottery wheel.
For the not so green-fingered, Brighton Bike Hub is running Dr Bike sessions and a kids’ cycle obstacle course, Remade in Brighton will be crafting and there will be an Easter egg hunt, games and music.
