LETTER: Creamatorium is unfit for purpose
The event was well attended by many of the men who served with him in 2 & 3 Paratroop regiments along with many of his family and friends.
I was even allowed as an ex Royal Naval man to join the guard of honour.

Hide AdThe funeral was one to remember for the content, dignified organisation and the professional staff who work there.
However, the size of the crematorium in a funeral with such a large attendance left an awful lot to be desired.
In my opinion, the crematorium is currently unfit for purpose for such large occasions, however hard the undertakers and staff work to make the occasion as dignified as possible.
I felt ashamed as a local man that our local facility leaves such a lot to be desired.

What do visitors from outside Chichester reflect about this situation? I can only guess. I believe this situation to be fixed and the sooner the better. The current crematorium is far too small!
Of course, any expansion envisaged would have to take into account the ashes currently scattered in the garden.
What do our local undertakers think about this situation?
