MP reacts to defeat of his amendment to gay marriage bill
EAST Worthing and Shoreham MP Tim Loughton has accused the Government of “scare mongering” after his amendment to the gay marriage bill was defeated.
The amendment would have extended civil partnerships to heterosexual couples, but the Government claimed Mr Loughton’s proposals would cost billions to implement.
Speaking to the Herald, Mr Loughton denounced the Government’s figures as “back-of-the-fag-pack calculations”.
