New speed limit in Washington
A 30 miles-per-hour speed limit will be enforced in Washington following years of campaigning.
The new limit follows a public consultation in November, and came into force on Monday.
Previously, only the national speed limit had applied, allowing motorists to travel at potentially dangerous speeds.

Hide AdA spokesman from Washington Parish Council said the ‘de-restricted limit’ encouraged motorists to use the village as a ‘quick cut through’ between the Washington roundabout and the A24 at Glaseby Lane.
They added that the council was satisfied with the decision.
Sussex Police will enforce the new limit.
