Old and young come together to plant Jubilee oak
The ceremony was performed, in rainy conditions, by 100-year-old George Bayntun, of New Winchelsea Road, and five year old Megan Padovani, who moved into Valley Park in April.
George also put five 2012 5p pieces in with the roots of the tree.

The builders, Jenners, prepared the ground.
Also taking part in Sunday’s ceremony were Rye’s Deputy Mayor, Cllr. Bernadine Fiddimore, Cllr. Jo Kirkham, the Rector of Rye, Canon David Frost, the President of the local Churches Together, Kate, Lady Davson, representatives of Rye Baptist Church, and several residents of Valley Park.
The tree, supplied by English Woodlands of Heathfield at a discounted price, is part of an East Sussex wide scheme.
Each oak, planted at this time, is recorded in a county jubilee book, a copy of which will be presented to Her Majesty.
