Speechless at trophy
On Saturday night it was the Rowing Association dinner and presentation evening, held at the Cooden Beach Hotel. It was a superb evening where people from all over the south coast collected trophies for winning their championship titles - and Bexhill Rowing Club won more than their fair share having dominated the season.
At the end of the presentations,Graham Dawes - the club chairman, presented me with a very, very special trophy. It was a silver replica single sculling boat - the most beautiful trophy I have ever seen. It was mounted on a lovely wooden mount with Bexhill Club colours on the base.

Hide AdI was speechless. It took me by complete surprise and was a very moving moment for me. They awarded it in recognition of achievements for Bexhill Rowing Club over the past 22 years. However, for me it has been a real pleasure and an honour to be part of such an amazing club as Bexhill. Regardless of the event, any wins I have achieved are a team effort, especially with the support from my brother Matt, and Paul Dawes - who works so hard every year to get the most out of everyone.
This year has been the most memorable year ever, and to be awarded with such a beautiful gift at the end of it is truly a great honour and is a memory I will treasure for ever. Thank you to everyone.
