Then it was largely confined to China, where it originated; fast-forward three months and her daily routine has turned upside down.
But the 31-year-old is now riding the home fitness wave sweeping the nation post-lockdown. She said: “With all this spare time, people are like why not? We’ve had to change a massive aspect of our lives, let’s try something we haven’t done before.”

Hide AdWhen Jade completed the same challenge in 2018, she relied on gym classes. But when gyms were forced to close, the American Express employee had to get creative.
Despite being confined to the house she lives in with her sister Naomi and their family in Navarino Road, East Worthing, Jade has taken to doing garden circuit classes with the family, helped by her partner Vikki: a firefighter and fitness instructor.
Jade said it was all about adapting your exercise: “You can do bodyweight exercises, but lots of people are used to lifting weights. I’ve seen people filling up suitcases and putting books in rucksacks to wear while squatting.
“You could even chest press your child if they are small enough. Look around and see what there is.”

Hide AdHer advice to those who wanted to get fit during the lockdown was to set up a routine and stick to it, whether that was exercise in the morning or at night.
Jade said she had also been going for runs to mix-up her workouts – and had noticed many more people doing the same and respecting the social distancing rules.
She also praised the online ‘P.E. lessons’ hosted by fitness celebrities such as Joe Wicks – which had become part of the home learning for her nephew Cameron, 12, and nieces Sienna, seven, and Eliza, four.
