Simon, 21, joined Sussex Downs College in April 2014 as an advanced apprentice level three bench joiner after learning the quality basics working for the family company, Barn Joinery Ltd, based in Eastbourne. Simon’s father, Kim McGreevy, who instilled in Simon a passion for joinery, said, “I am immensely proud of Simon. He is a skilled joiner who works tirelessly to provide a professional service with quality results. His professionalism is something to be commended in one so young, and I have faith that he will continue to excel in the future.”
Simon took part in the three day National Skill Show held at the Birmingham NEC in November, where he won a silver medal for his timed assessment. This success means that Simon is now eligible to represent the UK as part of Team GB in the 2017 World Skills held in Abu Dhabi.
