Popular Battle café to close this weekend
Jempson’s Cafe in Battle High Street will shut up shop on Saturday, September 22.
The lease on the premises expires shortly and the company has been unable to agree terms to renew, according to Jempson’s.

Hide AdA spokesman for the café said: “We have traded in the town from this shop for over 12 years and we wish to thank all our customers for their support.
“Our selection of bread and cakes will continue to be available at Jempson’s Local Supermarket in Market Square, Battle.
“To date the company has been unable to find alternative premises, but efforts will continue in the coming months. Staff members were offered positions within other Jempson’s cafés.”
Jempson’s Bakers Ltd operates four bakery and coffee shops, and has opened two new takeaway Rye Bakery shops in 2017. Plans are afoot to open more of these outlets in the near future.
