Public to be allowed to speak at Rother planning meetings?
But now it seems that Rother District Council may finally be about to pass recommendations which will allow members of the public to speak at its planning committee meetings.
Residents have been calling for such measures for a number of years, arguing other local authorities allow members of the public to address the planning committee as part of the proceedings.

A spokesman said: “Rother District Council’s cabinet has agreed to put forward recommendations to allow members of the public to speak at planning meetings through a petition-based scheme.
“This would mean that in some cases, where a petition containing more than 10 signatories is submitted, a spokesperson may be invited to speak to the planning committee.
“A final decision is expected to be made by full council on May 1, 2016, and full details of the scheme ratified.”
