Sedlescombe
VILLAGE FAIR 2015: Sedlescombe Societies Association will be holding their AGM on November 3 in Village hall committee room 2.
This association was originally set up, as I understand it, to enable all the groups within the village to come together and create a day for the whole community to get together and enjoy. Unfortunately this year 2014 this was not possible due to lack of interest in getting together to form a committee to organise and run the event. In the past the committee have worked hard to achieve a great day out for all villagers and visitors to enjoy and included arena events such as dog demonstration, dog shows , gymnastics, live music alongside a scarecrow competition , art exhibition, fancy dress, vintage cars , craft stalls , traditional games, tea tent, beer tent and much more . It would be fair to say that over the years the fair has been running, nearly everything must have been tried and offered as an entertainment. This year we were fortunate to have a couple of events on the Green but it would be nice to see the sports field used by the whole of the community at an event next summer. Therefore if you or your village group would like to see the fair back in 2015 then please make a date to attend the meeting on November 3 at the village hall. If we all do a little then we can achieve a lot.

Hide AdSEDLESCOMBE AND DISTRICT FLOWER CLUB: hosted a meeting last week, when visiting demonstrator Jean Allen came to show the audience Autumn Glory, as you would expect lots of yellows, oranges and greens but then a surprise pink arrangement. The evening was much enjoyed by all who attended. The next meeting is the AGM on October 8, during the evening there will be refreshments and a hat fashion show.
SPORT IN THE VILLAGE: I would be delighted to receive information on sports happening in and around the village, either to take part in or to be a spectator at. Please use the contact details at the end of this column
ST MICHAELS HOSPICE: This Saturday, September 20, there is a Vintage Fair being held in the Hospice gardens, 25 Upper Maze Hill, St Leonards, TN380LB. I know there are many supporters of this local charity in the village, so why not pay a visit to the many stalls and have tea beside the sea, quite near the sea anyway !
IF YOU HAVE AN EVENT coming up in the local area or would like to have a small piece, outlining your club or organisation aims, activities, membership etc. then please contact me by email to [email protected] or by calling 870344.
