The property was previously a bed and breakfast hotel. Austen and Marie Harrity saw the need and potential for a care home specialising in mental health support, rehabilitation and assisted living, so opened the home in 1988.
Initially, residents were people who needed support in relearning the tools necessary to live independently, after a psychiatric placement. Over time, many came to see it as home and chose to stay permanently.
The home now caters for people with a variety of physical and mobility issues.
