Sponsored silence raises £120 for Nepal
Keen to support the Nepal Earthquake Appeal, 14-year-old Michelle Atkinson decided to do a 24-hour sponsored silence.
“My husband and I are so proud of her,” said Mrs Atkinson. “She did it throughout school and at her dance class. She just felt she had to do something to help Nepal.”

Hide AdMichelle, of Roberts Road, Lancing, started the silence at 7am last Wednesday and carried a white board around with her to explain why she was not speaking during lessons at The Sir Robert Woodard Academy in Upper Boundstone Lane, Lancing. Her silence continued after school, when she attended lessons at the Let’s Dance Studio, in Elm Grove, Lancing.
Mrs Atkinson said: “They all supported her and the white board meant she could communicate. Her friends were great. She managed to raise £120, which is brilliant.”
