Standards high at Easebourne Garden Show
And commenting on the quality of exhibits, society chairman John Humphris thanked everyone who had brought along their vegetables, flowers, floral arrangements, baked goods and preserves.
There were 150 entries this year and 21 members won prizes. Many villagers joined them to look at the exhibits and enjoy tea and home-made cakes in the hall.

Hide AdIt was a special afternoon for John Etherington who not only won the Harry Etherington cup for the ‘best collection of vegetables’, but also took away the Dave Gibbs trophy for the best individual entry in vegetables, as well as the RHS Banksian Medal for the most points in the horticultural classes.
Several children entered the two children’s categories and each child won a prize for their entries. Brothers James and Alexander Boccanfuso, ages six and nine, and William Rea, age eight, each created a wonderful miniature garden in a tray. Milla Wallis-Hughes, ten, won first prize for her whimsical ‘Spineosaurus’ made with garden vegetables.
Charlotte Tedd, ten, and Isaac Rea, five, also won prizes for their imaginary creatures.
After the prize-giving ceremony, society member Caroline Nelson praised chairman John Humphris for all his hard work and dedication to the society: “in this tumultuous world, we all get so much pleasure from our gardens and allotments, and from their produce.”
