Wheelchair racing has council backing
Following the launch of a wheelchair racing group in 2013, there are now six racing wheelchairs available for disabled people in the community to use. The group, hosted by Worthing and District Harriers, is backed by England Athletics through the Sussex Athletics Network.
Nathan Freeman, ten, said wheelchair racing made him feel independent.

“I’ve tried other disabled sports but wheelchair racing is the best.”
Training sessions are held at Worthing Leisure Centre, in Shaftesbury Avenue, on Tuesdays at 5pm and Saturdays at 10.30am. Any wheelchair user or individual with partial trunk and leg function, of any age or experience, can attend either session. For more details, contact Claire on 07762013949 or [email protected]
