The team from 2nd Southwick Scout Group, which included leaders and parents, worked with Adur East Lions on Saturday morning to clear the site in Gardner Road.
Nursery manager Mandy Austin was amazed at the transformation achieved by the 20-strong workforce in what was a fairly wild area.

“It entailed removing dead and low-hanging branches, trimming the smaller bushes and removing ivy. We collected bin full of ivy from the ground and entwined through the trees and fences.
“This was all to make the area clear and safer for the young toddlers that attend the nursery, together with use by local residents.
“I would like to say a big thank you to all those who helped.”

These have given the children the chance to work with real tools, learning new skills and understanding the safety aspects involved.
Fishersgate Nursery has a well-used outside area and the clearance work has meant it can develop a further wooded area for the children’s exploration.
