Daniel Gilmore, 46, of St Michael’s Road, runs a number of music classes and workshops for people of all ages with disabilities, helping them to use a range of musical instruments.
He was given his award by the team at Splash FM, who were hosting their annual Splash Awards, celebrating the best community members that Worthing has to offer.

“Music can have a calming effect on people and does lots of things to people. Even if someone can’t play anything, they just sit and listen which is lovely. I have some instruments they can attach to wheelchairs. It makes them feel like they are part of a group. Its a great job and I won an award which was a bonus. I wasn’t expecting it, but its nice to be recognised.”
Daniel was given his award on March 18 at the awards which were held at Worthing Pier.
He added: “When I won, I was just really happy and really excited, and I wasn’t expecting it at all. I was really proud, it is a great achievement, and its just nice. It is a fantastic feeling, helping lives, and I want to keep doing more of this.”
