Chichester rugby boys taste success on home turf
The Sussex RFU East and West Sussex have been divided into four regional zones, with the winners of each of the four regions going forwards to the all-Sussex final on April 29.
Chichester faced Bognor, Worthing and Pulborough in a group and started steadily against Bognor, with a convincing 3-0 win.

Hide AdNext up were Worthing and Chichester turned on the style. Fast running, crisp passing, flair and total focus saw Chichester start running in try after try. The game finished 8-0 to Chichester.
Pulborough were the final opponents for the pool stages. From the start it was a physical game but Chichester dominated, barely letting Pulborough see the ball. A 2-0 victory secured the pool win with no tries conceded in three games.
The semi-final was against Worthing and again Chichester dominated, with the scrum starting to show how dominant it can be. The game ended with a 6-0 victory.
The final saw Chichester take on Pulborough again. Chichester again penned Pulborough into their own half for almost the entire match.

Hide AdThe scrum powered Chichester up the field for a try. Pulborough caught Chichester napping late in the second half to run in the first try against Chichester all day.
The game finished as a 1-1 draw – with the championship going to Chichester as the only undefeated team of the day.
Chichester progress to the all-Sussex finals as champions.

Chichester under-11s fought off other teams including Worthing, Pulborough and Midhurst to win their age group at the event. They also go into the Sussex finals in April.

Hide AdChichester’s under-eight A team also won their age group to become West Sussex West champions.
The team were in a pool with Midhurst, Bognor, Worthing and Pulborough. Five of the team were under-seven champions last year.
Against Bognor, the boys got into their stride and won 4-2, before facing Worthing, who appeared to be the strongest opposition but were beaten by Chi 6-4. Versus Midhurst, it was a 5-3 victory, and the final pool match was Pulborough A, who they beat 6-4.
Chi met Pulborough B in the final and at half-time had a 3-2 lead. From then on, the boys streaked ahead – with a final try just before the whistle clinching a famous 7-3 win.

Hide AdThe excitement and joy in their faces shone out and they congratulated the runners-up before going on to celebrate.
The boys now go on to the Sussex finals at Crowborough.
