Graham Potter Albion team have enjoyed a good run of late and once again they performed well against an Aston Villa team who are ninth in the Premier League.
But as so often this season converting dominant displays into three points has proved problematic for Brighton.
Alexis Mac Allister missed Albion's best chance in the first half when he powered a header over the bar from Joel Veltman's cross. Villa keeper Martinez was also in fine form for the visitors as he denied Neal Maupay, Dan Burn, Leo Trossard and substitute Danny Welbeck.

1. Robert Sanchez 7/10
A relatively quiet evening for Albion’s stopper, which is testament to his water-tight defence. Covered anything Villa threw at him with ease including Ross Barkley’s attempt from range early in the second half.
2. Joel Veltman 8/10
Arguably one of the Dutch international’s best performances for the club. Kept Jack Grealish quiet all evening, while delivering appetising crosses when going forward.
3. Ben White 7/10
A member of the solid defence. White helped keep Villa quiet while turning defence into attack with midfield splitting passes.
4. Lewis Dunk 8/10
Another impressive performance from Albion’s captain. Completely diminished the threat from the impressive Ollie Watkins, and provided the usual blocks and tackles needed to keep a clean sheet.
