Heath celebrates individual excellence alongside team success
The Most Improved Player Award went to Mark Sole who was encouraged to play rugby again this season by way of the Return to Rugby campaign that was supported by Heath during the run up to the Rugby World Cup. It is good to see that this RFU initiative had a positive effect in encouraging dormant rugby players to pick up their boots and get back into the game.
Hugh Erritt received The David Kemp Award for the Young Player of the Season having come through Heath minis and juniors sections to emerge as an extremely effective second row player during the 2015/16 season. The coveted Players Player of the Season Award went unanimously to Wilf Bridges who moved from the front row to centre mid-season, filling gaps in the backs left by long-term injuries to team mates, and became a stalwart in attack and defence and an overall positive influence on the temperament of the team.

Hide AdPlayer of the Season was Joss Townsend (pictured centre in action) who despite injury has provided consistency and strength to the front row as Heath fought valiantly for promotion. His prize includes a Spin and Slide session at Goodwood in a BMW M135i courtesy of the Club’s main sponsor Vines of Gatwick BMW. Last but by no means least, Clubman of the Year 2016 is Peter Dickson, 1st XV manager who has played an enormous role in the squad’s success this year, keeping organisation of the team on track, allowing the coaching team to concentrate on what happens on the pitch.
Heath welcomes new players of all ages and ability – pre-season training resumes on Tuesday 12 July and there are regular tag rugby sessions throughout the summer – more information available at www.hhrfc.co.uk
