Anne lives in Emsworth and Karen lives in Cornwall, but they used to be neighbours and had painting sessions, with the occasional Pimms together, before they moved to their present homes. They have had several exhibitions at the Oxmarket Gallery.

“We have very different styles which we hope makes for an interesting exhibition,” Anne said.

Anne’s work is either figurative or abstract in oils. In this exhibition much of her work is based on sketches drawn in her life-drawing group superimposed on abstract grounds.

Although Karen enjoys painting, her true love is working in textiles where her needle and fabric are her paintbrush and canvas.

Karen is living in Cornwall hence some of her mixed media work is of the Padstow and Port Isaac area near to where she now lives.

Anne was encouraged to develop her artistic skills by art tutor colleagues while they worked in the education department at Feltham Young Offenders Centre in the 1990s. This led to a degree from the University of the Creative Arts, Farnham in 2001. Karen’s background is in textiles which she has developed into mixed media artworks.
