New provision for disabled children planned

Challengers is working with West Sussex Council to open a new provision in the city.

It is hosting two open days to give people a chance to have a say on what would benefit them.

Hannah Woollven, events and communications officer, said: “Challengers provide play and leisure schemes in Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire.

“We are inviting local people to attend and talk to us about what services are needed in Chichester and how Challengers can fit into the local community.”

The open days are Wednesday, August 17, 12pm to 3pm, at 5th Chichester Scout Group, Whyke Road, Chichester, and Wednesday, August 24, 12pm to 3pm, at Community Hall, Donegall Avenue, Roussillon Park, Chichester.

Hannah added: “We are in early stages at the moment, so just want to get people together and start a conversation about what Challengers could look like in Chichester.

“At the moment, we have four different age groups of schemes - pre-school, play, youth and young adult, so we would like to gauge from the community how best we could for fill the need.

“There will be a welcome speech and an explanation about Challengers, followed by a fairly informal discussion with lots of tea and biscuits.

“There will be a few activities set up for anyone to get involved in and we are especially excited to invite families and young people to come along.”
