Danielle, who comes from Croydon, decided to become the publican at the pub after a visit to Chichester.

She said: “I came on a shopping trip to Chichester and immediately fell in love with the city.

“I have worked in the pub trade for several years but the Four Chesnuts will be the first with my name over the door.

“It is in a great location and has plenty of potential. I’m really looking forward to when we re-open so my partner Evan and I can get to know all the locals.”

The investment, by pub company Punch, has created six new jobs, with one of the first to sign up being Danielle’s niece, Hannah Kinsella.

The project includes a complete redecoration throughout with a brand new bar being relocated to provide a better use of the space and improve the layout.

As part of the refurbishment, the kitchen is also being fully upgraded in order to offer a new menu featuring a range of freshly prepared pub meals alongside a good selection of beers, wines and spirits.

Openings manager for Punch, Andy Killeen, said: “Danielle has plenty of experience in the industry and some great ideas for making the Four Chesnuts a real focal point for the local community.”

The Four Chesnuts will re-open to the public on Thursday 23 March.
