'It is great that Five Guys decided to come to Chichester' says city mayor
The Mayor of Chichester has joined the community in welcoming the imminent arrival of fast food chain Five Guys.
Burger restaurant chain Five Guys announced plans earlier this week to open a new restaurant at Chichester Gate in March.
The American food chain, known for its burgers, fries and milkshakes, will 'greatly help to revitalise' the city's leisure park, according to Richard Plowman.
The mayor added: "It is great that Five Guys have decided to come to Chichester.
“Burgers have come a long way since I was a lad and I am sure they will do well.”
Chichester District Council also welcomed the news.
A spokesperson said: “Chichester is a great place to visit and do business in. It’s really positive that even in these challenging times, we have new businesses wanting to set up which is good news for jobs and the economy.”
The American food chain, which has two premises in Brighton and one in Crawley, was established in 1986 by the Murrell family in Virginia and launched in the UK in 2013, opening in Covent Garden on July 4.
A spokesperson said: "Five Guys prides itself on using the freshest ingredients, and customers can find out which local farm the potatoes have come from by checking out the restaurant’s notice board.
"This results in delicious burgers and fries of the highest quality, burgers are grilled to order, whilst the fries are hand cut every morning and cooked in peanut oil to create a mouth-watering taste.
"Using fresh ingredients there are 250,000 possible combinations to order your burger at Five Guys as well as over 1,000 possible ways to customise your milkshake."
