The free, startup club will be launched through business hub, The Track, located within the town’s railway station.

The programme will give those thinking of starting their own business ‘all the resources they need’ to set up and begin trading, including ‘expert-led workshops and support’.

Starting with a series of online webinars tomorrow (Thursday, November 19), the first five weekly workshops will focus on how to think more creatively and help founders and small businesses focus on innovation, creative business storytelling and marketing.

The sessions will then run in-house from Thursday, January 21 at the The Track, and cover ‘everything an individual may need to turn their idea into a thriving business’.

Georgia Alston and Bob Maddams are the community managers at The Track and, ‘with all necessary safety procedures in place’, are ‘keen to start introducing the hub’ to potential founding members in December, restrictions allowing.

Bob said: “Georgia and I have been working hard to get The Track ready for potential members which has understandably been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Whilst we may have to wait a little longer to officially launch the hub, we can start offering another crucial aspect of our service — startup support.

“The initial creative workshops and the wider startup club will give anyone with a passion or an idea to start their own enterprise all the tools they need — from the business plan and legal structure right the way through to sales, marketing and investment raising.

“It will be delivered by experts who have been there and done it themselves and understand the challenges individuals face starting and growing a business.

“We’d encourage anyone in the early stages of starting a business, or those who simply have an idea, to get in touch and see how our Startup Club can help them.”
