"These popular markets have been operating from a temporary home in Cattle Market car park since the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak in order to help comply with Covid-19 regulations.

“Safety is of course our top priority and we have been working hard to make sure that this is the right time and that the right measures are in place so that stallholders and shoppers alike can enjoy a safe return to the high street.

"We know that shoppers rely on the markets for their fresh produce and goods, and many have told us that they feel safer shopping outside in the fresh air."

“It’s been an incredibly difficult year for all of our traders and local businesses, and we know that this move will be a very welcome one," Mr Foord added.

"Supporting district businesses is really important to us and the markets have a crucial role to play in the success of the high street.

“It’s great to see so many people supporting their local businesses, which is so important, now more than ever before.

"Whatever you need, whether its fresh bread and pastries, or local fish and groceries, we’d thoroughly recommend a visit to Chichester’s markets.

"All we ask is that you keep yourself and others safe by observing social distancing and regularly washing or sanitising your hands.”

The Saturday market in Chichester will remain in its permanent location of the Cattle Market car park. The Wednesday and Saturday markets are run by Bray Associates.
