Midhurst and Petworth landlady tells of excitement as pubs prepare to reopen
The landlady of three pubs across Midhurst and Petworth has told of her excitement at reopening her venues from Monday (April 12).
Pubs and restaurants will be able to invite customers back from April 12, when outdoor dining and drinking is once again permitted.
Rosemarie Carter, landlady of The Elsted Inn in Elsted Marsh, The Half Moon in Midhurst and The Star Inn in Petworth described her excitement at welcoming customers old and new to the pubs.
“We are really excited about reopening and I am excited to be able to see all of our customers again and welcoming new ones – we have undergone quite a few changes too.”
One such change includes a new chef at The Half Moon and a new manager, Gemma, at The Star in Petworth,
Rosemarie took over as the manager of The Star last year and said the feedback from residents blew her away.
“It is exciting and we are looking forward to know who our regulars will be,” she said.
“We are hoping that the tourist trade picks up too. We have noticed there has been a lot more movement around the town.
“We have had a few people who have come to us and said they would be lining up outside the pub to come in. We have got a lot of regulars who have said they are very excited to be coming back.
“I am definitely looking forward to that, without a doubt. We have not seen our family for a long time and we are a proper little family.
“We are all completely Covid compliant and obviously we are going to have the hand sanitiser gels and a separate entrance and exit.”
“We will do whatever the government advises.”
The pubs have been busy taking bookings for tables. To find out more, you can visit the pub’s Facebook pages.
