Comme Ca, on Broyle Road, was previously run by husband and wife team Michel and Jane Navet for 27 years, before closing when Michel was diagnosed with cancer.

The renowned restaurant may now been turned into three residential units with the additional building of four new homes if plans are approved.

Applicant Elberry Properties Limited said: “The redevelopment of this site will enhance the existing building and its setting and provide much needed family homes within this residential area of Chichester.

“The appearance of this part of Broyle Road will be retained, with the best elements of the original building being secured through the current approval and maintaining its on-going condition for the foreseeable future.”
