Plans to convert pub into flats in Felpham

The owners of a pub in Felpham have requested planning permission to convert the building into flats.

The Old Barn in Felpham has been on the market 'for a number of years' but the owners have had 'very little interest'.

"This, coupled with the recent pandemic, has resulted in the redundancy of four employees and a business, whose future is uncertain," an application document read.

"Given the lack of interest in the property, the proposal seeks a conversion to create three, two-bed flats and one, one-bed flat."

If the application is successful, there will be an additional three flats.

The planning statement read: "The property is located within a residential area and within easy reach of local services and facilities by sustainable modes of transport.

"The proposals will provide much needed housing with minimal internal and external changes, ensuring that the building will be maintained without any detrimental impact on the street scene or character of the area."
