Rolls-Royce delivers Chichester Observer by chauffeured car

Journalists working for the Chichester Observer Series have always known it was a quality newspaper.

But they never quite expected it to be hand delivered by chauffeured Rolls-Royce to local residents.

This week, though, volunteers from the luxury car company – which has its headquarters and manufacturing plant at Chichester – delivered copies of the paper to 500 neighbouring addresses.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is purchasing the papers each week to ensure that local residents are kept up to date with trusted local news from the title – and to show their support for the Chichester Observer which they consider to be an important part of the local community.

Gary Shipton, Editorial Director, said: “So many readers have written to us thanking us for continuing to publish and produce such great newspapers and websites while they are locked down at home.

“We really appreciate the support of local businesses too who value our independent journalism and the difference we make to the communities we serve.

“We are also emphasising the importance of our local newsagents – many of whom remain happy to deliver the title, albeit by more modest means of transport.”

The car company is undertaking a number of community support initiatives to help the NHS, voluntary groups, and those most vulnerable in the community.

It has released its fleet of 30 cars along with volunteer drivers from its workforce to transport vital supplies in the Chichester district to the NHS and local groups and it is also planning to produce at its manufacturing plant desperately needed protective kit for hospital workers battling the coronavirus crisis.
