A-levels: Principal's praise for exam stars

A college assistant principal has congratulated her A-level students after they secured a 99.2 per cent pass rate.

Helen Loftus, of Chichester College, described the results as “a huge achievement” and said it was the eighth consecutive year that the A-level pass rate had come close to reaching 100 per cent.

An impressive 28 A-level subjects recorded 100 per cent pass rates. These include several traditionally difficult subjects, such as biology, chemistry, maths, economics, French, geography, psychology, English literature and drama.

More than 79 per ent of students achieved A*-C grades – an increase of 3 per cent compared to last year.

A such, many students will be celebrating getting into the universities of their choice, while others will go into work, take a gap year or continue their studies at Chichester College in higher education, vocational or apprenticeship courses.

Ms Loftus, said: “Huge congratulations to all our A-level students.

“This is the fourth year that we have achieved a pass rate of 99 per cent and it really is a superb achievement by our students.

“They have worked extremely hard, showing real determination and commitment to their studies and they have achieved some fantastic results. I am very proud.”
