A Levels results at Felpham Community College: Students ‘really happy’ with grades

Staff at Felpham Community College are ‘extremely pleased’ with the results achieved by students after what has been ‘a difficult time’.

Students achieved ‘very well’ in A-level and BTEC subjects this year, meaning many will go on to their preferred post-18 pathway – with a high number continuing their education at university.

Isabelle Saunders celebrated achieving an A* in English, an A in Biology and an A in Chemistry.

She said: “I was really nervous with the results due to watching the media and what happened in Scotland with results, however I have got on my course and I am going to Bristol University to do Medicine so I can become a Doctor.”

Macy Clegg achieved A grades in maths, Biology and Chemistry.

She said: “I’m really happy with my results and now I’m going to Surrey University to study Vet Medicine”

James Barnes was pleased to achieve Double Distinction* in his sport diploma and a C in Geography.

“I’m going to Portsmouth University to Sport and Exercise Science,” he said.

Abi Pacey achieved the following grades: Business Studies A*, Maths A, Biology C. She said: “I’m not planning on going to Uni this year, I want to travel and do some animal conservation in South Africa.

“Then I want to go to university and take a course relating to animals, but I want to be sure exactly what specialism I want to do before starting a course”

Emily Hughes is off to Nottingham University to take Spanish, Portuguese & Politics after achieving Business Studies A*, English B, Psychology C.

Hannah Clark, who achieved Maths A*, Biology B, Chemistry A, Extended Project A*, said: “I’m really pleased with my results especially as I worked so hard. I’m going to Southampton University to take Maths and Actuarial Science.”

Zoe Brixey, Head of Sixth Form, said, “We are very pleased with the achievements of our students.

“This has been a challenging time for students and we are very proud of how they have performed this year.

“We have created a culture in the 6th form where students work hard and staff know every student well and can therefore support and encourage them to reach their potential.

Mark Anstiss, headteacher, said: “It has been a difficult time for our students, given the unique process of awarding grades this year.

“However, overall, we are extremely pleased with the results received for our 6th form students.
