Jonny Crow, sales manager at Hancock Lettings and Estate Agents, explains the reasons why location is still king: “Despite the daunting prices of homes in the area, many buyers are not deterred in their drive to find and purchase their dream home.
“In fact, recent data from the Halifax Housing Market Confidence Tracker shows that 56 per cent of Britons believe this year is still a good time to buy a house.”
Since last year, many are still pursuing investments in the South Downs, Chichester, and other picturesque areas of West Sussex.
For instance, in September 2014, a two bedroom semi-detached cottage in Lavant, which had a small garden and no parking, sold for £299,000, while surrounding properties beyond the South Downs National Park sold for around £210,000 to 250,000.
The estate agent that closed the property deal explained that the reason for the big difference in price was purely down to location.
These market conditions, of course, can be challenging for some buyers.
Younger individuals, especially, might find it more difficult to step onto the property ladder and find a place that suits their ideal home and budget.
While saving for the deposit on the house, they might find it necessary to rent while they build their funds, or even share rental payments with someone else.
