100-year-old has played huge part in Chichester life
Centenarian Jose Denton will be having not just one but two parties for her 100th birthday.
She will be celebrating at Nyton House Residential Care Home, in Nyton Road, Westergate, today, on the day itself.
Emma Sturgeon, activities co-ordinator, explained: “We are having two parties for Jose – one on her actual birthday, where she will be having a tea and cake party with close friends and family, and then at our annual Summer Concert, where we have a band playing, we will be celebrating with the community and our other residents.”
Jose has played a huge part in Chichester life over the years, being a member of 11 clubs and societies, including The Ramblers, Chichester Canal Society, Chichester Art Society, Chichester Local History Society, Chichester Literary Society, Chichester Society and the gardening club.
She received a Civic Award from Chichester District Council in 1999.
