OLD wood will be made good by the Aldingbourne Trust.

The trust has been given an oak tree by the residents of a Chichester sheltered housing scheme.

The occupiers of Abbeyfield, along with their general manager Helen Griffin, decided to have the old and decaying tree cut down.

But they wanted to ensure its beautiful wood could be put to good use. Margaret Rowley, the oldest resident of its sister property Oak Shade House, suggested using the trust’s social enterprise – Wood@aldingbourne – which recycles wood into furniture and gifts.

Trust enterprise and development manager Michelle McKinley-Bell said: “This is a great donation.”
