THE Christmas lights go on in Emsworth this evening (Friday, November 28) and a whole host of festive fun is planned for the town.
The action starts from 5.15pm in St Peters Square with community carol singing and music led by Canon Simon Sayers, featuring the Emsworth Concert Band as well as pupils from the village’s primary schools.
Emsworth’s youngest school age resident, Esme Howard, will then switch on the Christmas lights with the Mayor of Havant, before the arrival of Father Christmas as he travels onto his grotto in The Hewitt Centre, South Street.
The Grotto will be open from 6pm and children of all ages are welcome with a small charge of £1.50 per child.
There will also be a festive market in South Street Car Park from 4pm and many shops from North Street down to the Quay will be open.
Emsworth Fire Brigade are welcoming children to the station so they can climb onto the fire engine.
On Saturday, December 6 there will be free parking in the town for three hours, and then on Saturday December 13 the fabulous Emsworth local produce Christmas market takes place.
Another special Christmas market takes place on Saturday, December 20, from 10am until 2pm, with Hampshire farmer’s market in South Street Car Park.
