A BID to renovate part of a business building into a living unit has been dismissed on appeal this week.
Planning inspector Ray Wright refused to grant permission to Stan Keeler, of the garden furniture store Norton Garden Structure, to turn part of the business building into living space.
The building on Chichester Road, Upper Norton, was deemed inappropriate for domestic use. After Chichester District Council refused planning permission for the renovation of the building in December 2011, Mr Keeler appealed against the decision.
He claimed the economic downturn had affected his business and he no longer needed part of the building for that purpose.
His plan to turn part of the building into a three-bedroom property was dismissed on the basis the conversion was not suitable for such a rural area.
