Arson attack in Southbourne investigated by police

An arson attack in Southbourne is being investigated by police, after a barn was set on fire.

The fire, which occurred last Friday evening (September 14) at approximately 9.45pm, was already well alight upon the arrival of fire crews.

The barn, which was used for storage, was on Main Road, and police assisted with traffic control in the area while firefighters tackled the fire.

Flames also spread to a nearby touring caravan at the rear of the barn.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service and Sussex Police have both confirmed that the fire was a result of deliberate ignition and will now be investigating the incident.

Firefighters from Emsworth, Havant, Chichester, Bognor and Littlehampton all attended the scene.
