Attempted robbery near Chichester College

A TEENAGE girl was the victim of an attempted handbag snatch in Chichester.

Police released an appeal today (November 16) after the attempted robbery of the 16 year old near the entrance to Chichester College last Wednesday (November 19).

A spokeswoman said: “The victim was walking home between 4.15pm and 4.30pm in Avenue De Chartres, near to Chichester College’s entrance, when she was approached from behind by a man who tried to take her handbag from her shoulder.

“The man is described as white, aged 18 to 22 and 5’ 8” to 6’. He was wearing dark jogging bottoms with a black jacket.”

Detective Constable Michael McKee added: “Fortunately the man did not get the handbag but the victim was shaken up by the incident.”

Police asked anyone who saw the incident or with any information to email or call 101 quoting serial 1232 of November 19.
