The 115 people who took part built cardboard shelters which were judged by a panel, including Chichester mayor Peter Budge.

Cllr Budge, along with Stonepillow chairman Shelagh Legrave, actor Christopher Timothy and Ursula Watt from the event sponsor George Ide solicitors, named the ‘Best Shelter’ as that made by Jon and Freja Munn.

Mr Budge said: “It started very well, but then when we were judging the heavens opened.

“Everyone got very wet, but that didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits.”
