The Queen got more than a few birthday candles yesterday as huge beacons were lit in honour of the occasion.
A beacon in Boxgrove was one of more than 900 set up across the UK in celebration of the monarch’s 90th birthday.
Chairman of Boxgrove Parish Council Henry Potter lit the beacon on Halnaker Hill at 8.30pm on Thursday, accompanied by other well-wishers.
A toast was made to Her Majesty and the magnificent spectacle was visible for miles around.
