THE transformation from glamorous builder to cookery queen is complete for one Bognor Regis woman.
Joanna Harrison, 35, who lives in the town, was due to appear on the ITV programme Food Glorious Food tonight (Wednesday, March 20) and her unusual recipe caused quite a stir.
Joanna’s culinary offering of chicken fillets with cornflakes and peaches was enough to earn her a red rosette from the legendary Loyd Grossman.
“I was really pleased when Loyd handed me the rosette. He is known as a hard judge to please, so that made it even more special,” said Joanna.
“I came up with the dish when I had nothing left in the cupboard. It is something that can be enjoyed by adults, teenagers and children.
“As a family, peaches are our favourite fruit and it also means the dish includes one of your five-a-day.”
As a self-confessed experimental cook, Joanna is not afraid to try something new and regularly puts together some unusual ingredients to make cracking results.
Her husband Louis Harrison, 53, said: “She can make anything out of anything. Whatever is in the cupboard she just turns it into something great. We have some fantastic food in our house.”
Joanna, who moved to the town nine years ago from Poland, runs a local building and property management company and is known as the builder in high heels.
“The experience has been fantastic. Meeting the crew was lovely – they really were brilliant.
“Meeting all of the other contestants has also been great,” she said.
The programme was filmed in Brighton last September, and a film crew travelled to Bognor to film Joanna cooking at home. Other spots in the town were also caught on camera. Joanna has appeared on This Morning alongside Gino D’Acampo.
