Boy arrested after Selsey burglary

Police investigating a garage burglary in Selsey have arrested a 13-year-old boy.

Between Saturday September 3 and Sunday September 4, a garage in Marisfield Place was broken into and a black M2R miniature motorcycle was stolen.

On Monday (September 5) a local boy was arrested on suspicion of burglary. He has been bailed until October 8 pending further enquiries. The motorcycle has been recovered.

PC Andy Rawlinson of Selsey Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “We are keen to hear from any witnesses who can assist with the investigation.

“Marisfield Place is the road at the side of East Beach shops and is a busy through route for residents living in a large part of Selsey. If you were passing and saw anything that might help then please contact Sussex Police.

“A green plastic bucket was found at the scene and we are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen someone carrying an item like this.

“Burglaries of sheds, garages and businesses in the area have been reduced by almost a third compared to the previous year. Despite this I would ask that residents lock sheds and garages whenever unattended. If they are adjacent to your house consider investing in an alarm for your shed and garage to alert you should anybody open the door or enter - they are low cost but protect tools and property that can be worth a considerable sum.”

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Sussex Police on 0845 60 70 999 quoting serial 1186 of 4/9 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
