BREAKING NEWS: Christmas lights switch-on event has been called off due to bad weather.

CHICHESTER’S Christmas lights switch-on event and fireworks have been called off due to bad weather.

Organisers made the decision earlier today (Saturday, November 24) to cancel the event, following advice from the MET office concerning bad weather and winds, which would make it unsafe to set off the fireworks display.

“As a result of the weather it was decided to cancel the light switch-on due to the fact that all of the entertainment was rained off and all of the surrounding events had to be cancelled,” said Kim Long, city centre manager.

As a result of the bad weather, event organisers have been forced to call off all planned events which formed today’s Chichester Christmas Festivities.

Organisers have now switched on the lights and said the fireworks will not be re-arranged at a later late.
