A BLAZE in Sidlesham has been burning through the night and has closed the B2201.
Two members of public witnessed a fire in a warehouse containing tyres on the B2201 Sidlesham just after midnight last night (May 6).
The pair called the West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, and two Chichester crews attended.
On the arrival of the crews flames had just started coming through the roof, so further firefighters from Selsey, Bognor Regis, East Wittering and Worthing were soon on the scene to assist due to ‘the ferocity of the fire’, a spokesman said.
At its height 35 firefighters were on scene. Relief crews are expected to remain at the scene all day and the B2201 is expected to remain closed for most of the day.
Fire investigation is in progress and will continue during the day.
