The swimmer found dead in waters off Bosham has been named today (Thursday, July 26) by Sussex Police, as Roy Waites, 62, of West Broyle, Chichester. A postmortem has been held and the precise cause of death awaits the outcome of further forensic tests. However police have said the death is not being treated as suspicious.
The man’s body was seen floating in the Bosham channel at 5pm on Sunday (July 22) by a member of the public who called the Coastguard.
Police were called to Itchenor Sailing Club where emergency services entered the channel and recovered the man’s body.
