AFTER nearly a decade in Chichester, First Friday Networking is expanding through offering a regular series of breakfast events.
The organisation, which invites a broad spectrum of people from the Observer area’s business community to take part in its monthly meetings, has staged its first end of month golf open morning, which is held at Chichester Golf Club in Hunston.
Steve Wilson, of Wilson Design Associates, who is a member of the group, believed it had been a given a strong reception.
Its members had particularly benefited from some professional golf coaching from Tony Westwood at the Chichester club, who offered some welcome tips as part of the sessions.
Mr Wilson said: “The first event has been a huge success. We came up with the idea of doing golf as part of our meetings as so much business seems to be done on courses. We thought it has to be a winner and 32 businesses turn up to our first golf event, which was superb.”
He believed it offered an excellent informal environment to network in and anticipated the ongoing monthly series would be continue to gain broad support from its members. As he explained, its formula is simple – no-one is under any pressure to perform any rapid-fire sales pitches to the group, it’s merely an opportunity for like-minded business people to gather.
He added: “The value of networking is now widely accepted. Most businesses realise that word-of-mouth recommendation is by far the best way to gain new business.”
