THOUSANDS of music-lovers are set to descend on the area for a festival this summer.
Mutiny in the Park is set to go ahead at Fontwell Park Racecourse, after last year’s successful event in Victoria Park, Portsmouth.
Organiser Luke Betts said around 20 venues were considered for the 2015 extravaganza and he was happy to have settled on Fontwell.
“I am thrilled with the site and think that at a 25-minute drive, it is close enough to home for the people of Portsmouth – with the added bonus of camping for those wanting to lose themselves in the full festival sense of escapism,” he said.
Headliners Knife Party will be on stage on Saturday, while dance acts Labrinth, Katy B and Maverick Sabre will also perform.
Around 100 acts are still to be announced, according to organisers.
Before settling on Fontwell, organisers looked at holding the festival on the outskirts of Rowlands Castle, near Stansted Park.
At the time, James Cooper, director of Stansted Park Foundation, said he was approached about having the festival at Stansted Park, but he deemed it too large and not right for the estate.
Organisers are selling tickets for three nights’ camping, from Friday, July 17 until the following Monday.
Arun District Council said Fontwell’s premises licence covered the event and it would be working with the venue in the run-up to the big weekend.
